A New Shingle Style House

Building sites influence the style and design of a house in many ways.  This new home is built on forested land that is rough and hilly which lent itself well to the Shingle Style.  While popular for waterside cottages this style is also very well suited to a rural landscape due to its rustic yet refined look. The house is large and seems imposing at first but at second glance the recessed entry porch and door are very welcoming. Once inside the entry hall leads to a large great room with a 10' high ceiling, a pilastered fireplace and a porch with shingles arches. The Owner's bedroom with a fireplace and private bath are on the ground floor and 2 guest rooms are above.  A custom designed kitchen has a sitting area and dining table for casual meals in a more intimate setting.
